Moving In

It was a beautiful and eventful summer. Clear blue skies were the backdrop for many activities including Wanderlust, the six-week-long Vermont Summer Festival, and Manchester Sidewalk Sales. We sang along during performances by musical artist Judy Collins and The Marshall Tucker Band. We rode the bull at the Dorset Equine Rescue Barnyard Ball and attended first-rate theatre and town anniversaries — all of which are highlighted in the following pages. We celebrated at numerous gallery, store, and restaurant openings, and we ourselves entertained our new and old friends in Stratton Magazine’s new home in the historic Manchester Grist Mill.

The air has already begun to turn crisp here in Manchester and the Mountains, but our adventures continue. During these coming weeks we watch fall’s vibrancy evolve — putting on its own show — and we debate which will be the “peak” weekend…and when we will have the first snowfall.

In this issue we portray the enormous beauty that Southern Vermont offers; our hope is to share it with you firsthand.

We also celebrate home. We share the thoughts of some of our talented designers and invite you to our Home Improvement Expo to collaborate with our local experts on your current projects during Harvest Fest on Columbus Day Weekend.

GET OUTSIDE…

Throughout the season explore the area using our Fall Fun guide. Families can be in the know about apple and pumpkin picking and hayrides. For those more adventurous we steer you toward off-roading and horseback riding, and for those wanting to take in the sights, we point you to gondola and car rides and places to enjoy favorite beverages while adoring our exquisite vistas.

…AND TAKE IT IN

Most important, we highlight the incredible generosity of our community. In ”Good Works” we shed light on those who build homes and contribute their time to Habitat for Humanity. Read about those in our community who open doors to make home life better for children less fortunate. Learn about companies in our backyard that are building the foundation in green innovation to protect our resources and to make our homes safer, less costly, and more efficient.

Discover with us everything from art to appliances to apples, with the people who call our community home!
