Southern Vermont’s Ski Jump

Harris Hill is Brattleboro’s not-so-hidden gem.

Each year, competitors from across the world travel to the Southern Vermont town to take a trip down the state’s only 90 meter ski jump. The Olympic-sized jump is also the only of its kind in New England, and thousands of spectators and competitors come together one weekend a year for the U.S. Cup Finals of the U.S. American Ski Jumping Series.

This year’s event will take place February 20 and 21, with the U.S. Cup Pepsi Challenge taking place on Saturday and the Fred Harris Memorial Tournament happening Sunday. Harris was the man behind the ski jump’s creation back in 1922.

In between watching jumpers soar over 300 feet at speeds of over 60 miles per hour, this family-friendly event includes opening ceremonies, live music by local artists, Jumper the mascot, food and drink vendors, a bonfire and much more.
