World Class Mountain

The staff of Stratton Magazine understands and appreciates that. After all, we have been telling—and living—the Stratton story for a long time now. And we thought the best way to celebrate the mountain on this milestone birthday would be to collect that history and present it to our readers, decade by decade.

So that is what we have done.

For many readers, a lot of this will be new territory. They were not, after all, around for much of Stratton’s eventful life. We feel sure that they will find the accounts by Rick Kahl, Lisa Densmore and Peggy Shinn of Stratton in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s fascinating. And readers who were there at the beginning will no doubt take pleasure in the telling of how the mountain grew from a dream to become what it became in the 90’s and is, now, in the 21st century.

Telling this story has been, for us, a labor of love. For me, personally, it has brought back many wonderful memories of time spent with family and friends, enjoying together this “world-class” place. I hope all those who love the mountain will experience the same thing on reading this issue of Stratton Magazine.
